Plus hours
Plus hours arise when employees work more than the contractually agreed working hours. These additional hours are recorded in a working time account. In this way, plus hours create a time credit for employees. In principle, plus hours allow both employees and employers to organize their working hours flexibly and react to fluctuating order situations.
Plus hours and overtime: Flexibility in working time management
Plus hours are often also referred to as overtime and offer a valuable opportunity for employees to actively shape their work-life balance. For employers, this flexibilization of working hours is particularly advantageous when a dynamic working environment results in short-term projects and - associated with this - a high order situation.
Flexitime and plus hours in modern working environments
Plus hours play a particularly relevant role for employees on flexitime. The flexible working time model of flexitime allows employees to largely determine their own working hours and work beyond the agreed working hours if necessary. These additional hours, which are recorded as plus hours in flexitime, offer employees the opportunity to adjust their workload individually and work more during peak project phases. In return, they can later compensate for the plus hours accumulated in flexitime as time off or - depending on company regulations - have them remunerated.
Plus hours versus minus hours
With all the freedom that flexible working hours bring: At the end of the month, the employee must have reached the target working hours agreed in the employment contract or collective agreement. This can result in the accumulation of either plus hours or overtime or minus hours, which is also referred to as a positive or negative flexitime balance. Minus hours are the opposite of plus hours or overtime. They arise when an employee works less than the contractually agreed working hours, i.e. does not reach the target working hours. The resulting difference to the target working hours is recorded in a working time account and must be made up at a later date to compensate for the negative balance.
Digitally record plus hours/overtime and minus hours
Minus hours and plus hours/overtime in flexitime are best recorded digitally in an electronic time recording system - for an overview, transparency and to ensure compliance with the Working Hours Act and mandatory working time recording. With WEB Time Recording, Krutec offers companies exactly the right tool for this: This digital time recording solution makes it possible to record and manage working times in real time via an intuitive user interface. This gives both employees and managers an overview of the current time account at all times, including plus or minus hours.
