Calculate vacation entitlement
Your employees' vacation entitlement must be calculated in accordance with the German Federal Leave Act. Section 3 of this law stipulates a statutory minimum holiday entitlement of 24 working days. In this case, working days include the days from Monday to Saturday inclusive. Sundays and public holidays are therefore excluded when it comes to calculating vacation entitlement. This regulation is based on a week with six working days.
Calculate vacation pro rata
If you wish to calculate your vacation entitlement for five working days on a pro rata basis, the statutory vacation entitlement must be calculated accordingly. To do this, the statutory vacation entitlement is divided by the number of working days per week and multiplied by the number of actual working days. For a week with five working days, the vacation entitlement is therefore 20 working days.
